Paulo Freire

Paulo Freire is one of the greatest influential theorists about education of the XX C. He was born in Brasil, Sao Paulo in 1921. In 1943 he began his studies of philosophy and Psychology of language in the Recife University.  This pedagogue was one of the first devoted to the critical pedagogy, it is based in an idea that considered the education as a way for emancipation, this theory believes that the human can build knowledge from his own experiences, the subject must become aware and empowered of his reality, the target is to generate a social transformation.

In 1960 Freire made a program for adult literacy, this work is a proposal for the liberation of the oppressed human, the liberation of the working class across the process teaching – learning / learning – teaching with a horizontal pedagogy.

The publications of Paulo Freire are many, the most famous are 1970: Pedagogia do oprimido, 1977: Cartas à Guiné-Bissau, 1992: Pedagogia da esperança and 1993: Política e educação.

 In the same line of work are thinkers like Giroux, McLaren and Apple. Freire dies in 1997.

In my free time

In my free time i go to course of writing. I like to write because it’s a way to express all my feelings and thinking’s across the words, these words can represent different pictures of reality and trigger in the people many emotions. I like the writing in generally but my favorite is the poetry. At first I only wrote and wrote without having in-depth knowledge about the poetry, so I started to study and read, then I found out about a course of writing. It was created by a Chilean writer called Diego Ramirez, he is founder of an independent publisher called “Editorial moda y pueblo”. The place where the teacher does this class is Santiago, he does courses all the week but I go all Thursdays in the evenings. This course is the second that I go to because the last year I participated in other course in the same place, it ended with a publication of poems. Actually, in the course there are fifteen persons, during the session we read different writers and then we have to write something about the topic of the class. 

My favorite animal

I love the animals, i always thought that the animals are very specials, even try to be vegetarian during a month but my weight will not let me, and I lost too much weight because I used eat meat mostly days. Independent that I feel too much closeness with the animals.

My favorite animal is the dog. This is a domestic animal that accompanies the human. I like the dog because I have a mascot called “Fé”. Fé is female and Alsatian. She have 13 years old and arrived to my home when was a baby. I love this dog, she is adorable and loving. Now she is in the south of Chile with my mom, every summer I travel to see it, i miss it so much. Sometimes I feel sad because she is old and at any time she can die. I have very experiences and memories of our “friendship”, she is an human more, she feel when your sad or happy, is an animal so special. The other reason by the dog is my favorite animal is because when I has 2 years my dog of these moment called “Toto” saved my life. I fell into the pool and I drown during a seconds, just in these moment my family was into the house, it was very quick. The history is that Toto pulled me out of water, its one amazing history!! And for that the dogs are my favorites animals. 

Expectations for a new semester

t the beginning of this term I was quite nervous about the professional practicum, because it’s an experience that requires great willpower and determination, in which you test all that you have learnt and thus it entails a big responsibility. Now I’m at the end of the semester and it’s been an enriching process, slow and demanding great effort. My expectations for next term are the best, I believe myself much more capable of facing upcoming challenges after this experience, with loads of new tools. I’m quite keen on this year’s second half to be full of new chances and amusing things to do.

My auto biography: who am I

My name is Francisca Rojas and I’m 23 years old. I’m currently studying my fifth year in Nursery and Primary school education at Universidad de Chile and taking the professional practicum in the Barrie Montessori School. I live with my grandma in Santiago and I have a sister and two brothers. I consider myself to be a very passionate person at everything I do, willing to seek for new sensations that make life intense, so I'm always going to and fro and I get easily bored of routine, being these the main reasons why, besides my studies, I always try to take part in an activity not related to university. In this moment I'm in a writing workshop because I just love writing.

 My favourite gadget

My favourite gadget is the notebook. My father gave to me a macbook the last year and i love it! This gadget is excellent for my hobbie because i like to write and i have too much pocketbooks with poems but is all disordered, so i can transcribe it in my mac for have all this in the same place. Also, i need always to plan my classes for childrens and the mac is a very good opcion for do it because its a very fast machine, you can do too much things at the same time and never will you have a problem, it has a big memory and a intelligent processor. I use my notebook for download music and put it in my cellphone too, for retouch photographies on Photoshop and a million of things more!

Im really enjoy my computer almost everyday! jaja
